Zhou Zhou - The Panda Pledge

Hi guys (again)!

So I was browsing through http://pandas.riversafari.com.sg/ and I came across the panda pledge! I've already pledged to lead by example and teach everyone the green lifestyle by reducing, reusing and recycling. You can also pledge to do others :) With each pledge, a bamboo will be planted on the website with your name and what you pledged to do :D Please go and take this pledge! Every pledge counts. (As of now there are 3308 pledges :))

This is one of the few steps to get the community to be involved in the conservation of pandas! What's more, this is Singapore's own initiative :) I hope that there will be more of these kind of campaigns/activities for us to engage in so that we are more aware of what we can do to help the pandas.

I'm sorry for this extremely short post :(

  1. I've got an idea guys! Why don't we share the website http://pandas.riversafari.com.sg/panda-pledge.html and get our friends to pledge? We will be doing our part to engage the commuunity! :) Let's make the number of pledges to 4000 by the end of this week! What do you guys think?

  2. I don't think we should. That's very IPW! But put group should all pledge just to show our support. We've learnt so much about pandas and we should do what we can to protect them.

    1. Hi Lin Wei,

      1. The panda pledge can be taken by anyone who supports the continued existence of giant pandas in the future. With every pledge comes a bamboo being planted. This pledge does not help the pandas directly, but when people pledge, it shows that they are aware of the plight of the pandas, thus showing that the education programmes are successful. Also, I believe that there must have been a sharing of this through social media to get people to vote, which is of course a good sign :)

      2. Well, it is a useful tool in telling us how many people are aware of the plight of the giant pandas. If many people have taken the pledge, then it goes to show that people are will do their part in order to ensure their survival.

    2. Other than the pledge, what can you do to raise the awareness of the public? Why?

    3. Schools/Communities should take the effort to start campaigns. In the case of Cedar, we can do it for our IPW project or just do it as a hobby during the holidays. I think the most effective way will be for the conservation of pandas to be in trend, because in society, if its cool everyone will follow it (sigh).
